PTT Public Company Limited (“PTT”)’s mission is to conduct the business efficiency with good corporate governance though being a good corporate citizen to protect environment and improve quality of life of the communities to ensuring the company long-term sustainability growth. For that reason, PTT is committed to ensuring that the working conditions in PTT’s supply chain are safe, people is treated equally with respect and dignity, and the operating process are environmentally responsible.     


“PTT Supplier Sustainable Code of Conduct” is drawing upon internationally recognized standards in order to advance social and environmental responsibility. Therefore, PTT’s suppliers are obligated, in all of their activities, to operate in full compliance with the laws and regulations of the countries in which they operates while upholding the PTT policies concerning compliance with all applicable laws, Business Ethics, Human Rights, Health and Safety and Environment as indicated in each subsection of this code.

 

1. Business Ethic:PTT’s suppliers must be committed to conduct their business with ethical standards, which include:
1.1 Business Integrity:   PTT’s suppliers shall maintain highest standards of integrity in all business interactions. Corruption, extortion, and embezzlement are strictly prohibited and may be subject to contract termination and further legal actions. PTT will not be responsible for any consequences of contract termination arising from such actions.
1.2 Confidentiality and data protection:   Programs that ensure the protection of supplier and employee whistleblower confidentiality are to be maintained.
1.3 Corporate Social Responsibilities:   PTT’s suppliers shall develop and engage in corporate social responsibility program by various means.
1.4 Conflict of Interest:   If any potential conflict of interests arises, PTT shall be notified as soon as possible.

2. Human Rights:PTT’s suppliers are committed to upholding the human rights of workers, and to treat them with dignity and respect as understood by the international norms, which include
2.1 Freely Chosen Employment:  PTT’s suppliers shall not engage or employ people against their own free will.
2.2 Child Labor Avoidance:   PTT’s suppliers shall not employ children below the age where the law of the country permits employment. Young workers may also be barred from performing night work or hazardous work.
2.3 Wages and Benefits:   Compensation paid to workers shall comply with all applicable wage laws, including those relating to minimum wages, overtime hours and legally mandated benefits.
2.4 Working Hours:   PTT’s suppliers shall comply with local law or agreements regarding working hours, overtime hours, and working in holidays.
2.5 Non-Discrimination:   PTT’s suppliers shall not engage in discrimination based on sexual orientation, race, color, religion, age, marital status, pregnancy, political affiliation, or disability in hiring and employment practices.
2.6 Layoffs Practice:  PTT’s suppliers must proceed with each step of managing layoffs according to the labor law. They must not unfairly terminate any employment contracts or without clear evidence specifying that the termination of employment contract, in relation to the working performance of employee, are permitted by laws.
2.7 Humane Treatment:   PTT’s suppliers shall respect worker’s right and shall ensure no harsh and inhumane treatment, including any mental or physical coercion or verbal abuse of workers.
2.8 Freedom of Association:   PTT’s suppliers shall recognize that employees are entitled to be, or refrain from being, union members.

3. Occupational Health and Safety:PTT’s suppliers shall ensure that worker’s working environment complies with the law/regulation and shall carry out programs to improve this continuously, which include:
3.1 Safety and Working Environment:  PTT’s suppliers shall identify, evaluate, and control worker exposure to potential safety hazards through proper design, mechanical integrity, engineering and administrative controls, preventative maintenance and safe work procedures. Where hazards cannot be adequately controlled by these means, workers are to be provided with appropriate personal protective equipment. Workers shall not be disciplined for raising safety concerns.
3.2 Security and Emergency Preparedness:   PTT’s suppliers shall observe strict requirements for the selection of security contractors. Emergency situations and events are to be identified and assessed, and their impact minimized by implementing emergency plans and response procedures, including but not limited to: emergency reporting, employee notification and evacuation procedures, worker training and drills, appropriate fire detection and suppression equipment.
3.3 Occupational Health, Injury, and Illness:   PTT’s suppliers shall ensure that all facilities for workers are clean and well-maintained as well as establishing and maintaining the procedures and systems to manage, track and report occupational injury and illnesses, including near-miss incidents and substandard acts/condition in written reports.

4. Environmental Management:PTT’s suppliers shall work in compliance with national environmental legislation/discharge permits and any specific environmental criteria of products and services delivered to PTT, which include:
4.1 Environmental management through life-cycle perspective:  PTT’s suppliers shall aim to achieve energy efficiency and minimize harmful discharge, emissions, and waste production in a life-cycle perspective.
4.2 Solid Waste and Hazardous Waste:   PTT’s suppliers shall identify, separate, and manage solid waste, chemicals and other materials posing a hazard if released to the environment in order to ensure their safe handling, movement, storage, recycling or reuse and disposal.
4.3 Wastewater:  PTT’s suppliers shall monitor, control, and treat wastewater generated from operations, industrial processes and sanitation facilities prior to discharge or disposal.
4.4 Air Emissions and Greenhouse Gas:  PTT’s suppliers shall characterize, monitor, control, and treat emissions and combustion by-products generated from operations prior to release as well as maximizing greenhouse gas reduction.
4.5 Soil and Groundwater Contamination:  PTT’s suppliers shall work with considerable care to minimize operational/service risks to soil and groundwater.
